There's nothing quite like a heartwarming hero's welcome amidst the cold, wet climate of Ireland, as seen during Conor McGregor's triumphant return to his homeland.

The moment he got off the plane, McGregor instantly felt the love of friends, family, and fans - all of which flocked to the Dublin airport to congratulate the interim champ.

During UFC's Go Big press conference last Friday, the "Notorious" was pretty much overjoyed with the idea of going back and feeling the frigid atmosphere of Ireland once again.

"I cannot wait to go home and touch that home soil and feel that fresh air," McGregor said. "I miss my hometown. I'm going home to see my family, my friends."

Hard work really pays off for McGregor, and he can't wait to show his countrymen the fruit of all his labor.

"Take this gold belt, take this hard work home show them what I have earned - that I've been away and I've been working." he claimed.

More than anything in the world, what the proud Irishman is truly looking forward to is spending quality time with the people close to him

"Parades and all, it's amazing and all that, but I just want to go home and see my family," he added. "I've been on the road more than anybody has up here and I've worked my (expletive) off for the right to go home. I cannot wait."

Prior to his main event bout for the interim UFC Featherweight Championship against Chad Mendes, Conor McGregor traded the freezing air of Ireland to the hot desert of Las Vegas.

He traveled to different parts of the globe with his then-opponent, Jose Aldo, to promote the much-talked-about UFC 189 card.

The anticipation briefly fell apart when Aldo injured his rib, and was replaced by Chad Mendes.

Shortly after this homecoming event, McGregor looks to start his training camp in Ireland before flying to the United States to iron out preparations for his title unification fight against Jose Aldo on December 12.
