Director James Gunn Says ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2’ Will Showcase No Many Characters

Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt will return in James Gunn's “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2.”

Director James Gunn said that there will be no many characters in his upcoming Marvel Comics film "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2."

On Sept. 8, Gunn tweeted a post on his official Twitter account, as reply to the question tweeted by Twitter user TheTio, that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel would not be seeing too many characters, since he wanted the characters in the first film to be personal.

According to Cinema Blend, Gunn's decision will permit him and the production crew to put the spotlight on Peter Quill and his other teams, which will allow both moviegoers and comic book readers to know more about the characters and relate from them. Otherwise, presenting a number of new characters implies that Gunn and his team will need to spend more time giving information about them.

Recently, "Captain America: Civil War" actor Chris Evans told Collider that superhero films could do really well if there is enough foundation and if it attaches fans to reality.

Gunn's take on his upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" focuses on exploring deeper the characters, which will help fans to see themselves in the characters. This means that Gunn's blend of humane and superhero touch could help fans appreciate his films as well.

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper (voice), Vin Diesel (voice), Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, and Michael Rooker, among others.

Directed by Gunn, "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 5, 2017.
