According to VG24/7, the expansion will be released on Steam alone which means that it will be available for the PC platform, in the meantime. Reports claim that support for other platforms such as Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo 3DS will soon follow.

"The Binding of Isaac" developer claims that the new downloadable content is worth at least 100+ hours of game time to which many gamers and experts claim will pick quite a hefty price. However, "The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth" will be released for only $9.99. The advertised price is only for the PC platform. The game's price tag might change depending on the platform it will be released on.

According to Techno Buffalo, the "Rebirth" expansion will introduce a new game mode called Greed. This new game mode will heavily focus on risk and rewards which is a completely new way of playing the game. The new game mode will also feature a new final boss as well as a new ending.

The DLC will also feature more than 25 new enemies, an expanded soundtrack and eight new bosses to fight.
