Recently, Google has drawn media attention as it launched the second generation of its virtual reality platform, Google Cardboard.
Like the first version, the newly launched generation also offers its services for free for third-party companies.
According to online opinion page Chuangshiji's report, the basic designs of Chinese VR firms still come from Google Cardboard amid their claims that they already succeeded in developing their own optical solutions.
The report added that with the absence of Google, there will be no Chinese firms dedicated to producing VR goggles.
For some sector analysts, the products made by the local VR headset sector are most likely similar to each other as they are all based on Google Cardboard.
Experts also noted that at least, the products of players, which remained struggling in presenting optical solution for the core hardware manufacturing, can be bought at an affordable price.
Moreover, figures have implied that home-grown products lack content support, resulting in frustration among users.
Analysts have pinpointed that since the applications domestic firms have developed for their VA products are not compatible with each other, the lack of content is all the more highlighted in the sector.
The report though remarked that majority of Chinese VR hardware producers all run programs that support content production.
Last year, Baofeng Media CEO Feng Xin announced its launching of a content support initiative for its Mojing VR goggles. The plan eyes to boost partnerships with 210 content providers, which include 100 panoramic photography groups.
