‘GTA Online’ Freemode Events Updated Dated With A New Trailer As Dev Announces Stopping Support For PS3, Xbox 360

'GTA Online' is getting the Freemode Events update for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Sept. 15.

September will usher in a new update for "GTA Online," one that's expected to deliver more games and challenges to players. Dubbed as the Freemode Events, the newest update will do away with load times or lobbies and open up a Freemode session or classic, chaotic and spontaneous challenges.

The "GTA Online" Freemode will go straight to next-gen consoles and PC, and the events developer Rockstar Games has detailed some of the events coming over at the official Rockstar Games blog. According to the developer, there are four events coming, with the players having the freedom to customize the session as to how they want it to play out.s

There's King of the Castle, which features a turf war where a player is left to fend himself off in a quest to claim a designated territory and keep the throne for himself. Hunt the Beast sees one player transform into a beast and run for his life as other players hunt him during the session. The "GTA Online" update will also introduce the new Adversary Modes.

Even with the new updates coming, not all players will have the chance to enjoy "GTA Online" in the long run. Specifically, players who are staying on the PS3 and Xbox 360 will no longer enjoy future support, Kotaku UK reported.

The biggest reason for this is the limit of the technology for the older consoles. According to the report, there is a point that the older consoles will hit the ceiling when it comes to handling the memory of each update. And it appears the time has come for that.

"We have continued to optimize the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last-generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall," said Rockstar Games in a statement quoted by the publication.

What this means for the older generation consoles is that September update with the Freemode Events will not come to the PS3 and Xbox 360. It had been a good two-year run filled with updates for "GTA Online," which was the "GTA V" online component. But the good news is that players will not have to worry about dropped server support, as Rockstar Games has promised that this will not happen even or the older generation consoles.

For PS4 and Xbox One players, there's no need for worry. The new updates is slated for release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Sept. 15.
