Manchester United Rumors Central (from L to R): Hugo Lloris & Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United continues to make headlines regarding upcoming transfer rumors in January as manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly not abandoned his plan of making an El Galactico signing before he retires.

Here are some of the latest out there in Old Trafford.

Red Devils eye Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as potential replacement for Real Madrid target David De Gea: United reportedly made a bid for the Tottenham goal tender during deadline day as an insurance if resident goalie David De Gea's transfer to the Bernabéu pushed through.

Since the deal with De Gea was called off, van Gaal allegedly pulled out his offer for the 28-year-old France international as well.

De Gea was given a new contract and inserted back into the starting XI, but it is not a guarantee that all is well and Real has already let go of their interest on the 24-year-old Spanish.

Lloris said that he is happy to stay although he admitted that he could have changed sides if the De Gea move did not fell through. If Los Blancos get their boy in January, then Lloris may really be moving to Old Trafford. Verdict: Fact.

Van Gaal prepares a massive bid to lure Los Blancos' superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford in January: Reports are out that United has a "great chance" of snagging the three-time Ballon d'Or winner this coming January transfer window.

While the exact amount is still undisclosed it reportedly has the potential to be a world record-breaking bid.

Aside from the Red Devils, French champions Paris Saint-Germain and some MLS teams are also said to be preparing to fight for the 30-year-old Portugal captain.

While it is true that United, PSG, and those MLS clubs are setting their sights on Ronaldo, the timing of the deal may not be right as Los Blancos are allegedly intending to let him go by the end of the season and not in January. Verdict: Fiction.
