Paulie Malignaggi's hatred towards Manny Pacquiao has been an interesting issue.
It was never known why the former champion boxer has been on the warpath against the Filipino boxer and now fans are questioning his motives as well as his integrity.
His most recent tirade was about Pacquiao not getting vindicated by the recent findings that Mayweather took IV shots before his bout with the Pacman. He told Boxing Scene:
"I don't think it's a vindication [for Pacquiao]. The fight [with Mayweather] was laughable mainly because Manny couldn't do anything and I don't think that has anything to do with Mayweather hydrating."
This is just the latest in more than a year's worth of taking shots at Manny Pacquiao. This is why fans have been vocal in various boxing sites and forums accusing Malignaggi of being on Mayweather's payroll.
Barry Gil comment on Tha Boxing Voice: "What can we get from a dumbass like Malignagi? He stops nowadays saying negative about Pacquiao particularly his allegations of the latter's PEDS use because the lawyers of Pacman have discovered that this clown is included in Mayweather's payroll."
The Real Brett Myers Twitter
"Who the hell is Paulie Malignaggi? Seems like an idiot to me #NeverHeardOfHim! Mayweather promoted this fight! All are on his payroll!!!"
However, some fans aired a point of clarification that it's Al Haymon, an enigmatic boxing manager and promoter who has Floyd Mayweather, Jr among his clients.
bigdunny1 on Boxing Scene "Kind of like how Paulie for years accused Haymon of corruption and paying off judges and protecting fighters BEFORE he signed to him and now all he does is defend Haymon. What a joke Paulie is he sold out a long time ago. He's like a h0e he will suck off anyone if they paying his check."
Aside from fans, Ring Observer has already suggested that the Pacquiao camp actually take legal action against Malignaggi. They directly call the fallen fighter the "hatchet man" for Haymon and his fighters, specifically Mayweather.
"Now Paulie Malignaggi has emerged as the new hatchet man, trying to slander and destroy the character of Manny Pacquiao by repeatedly and relentlessly accusing Pacquiao's great success as a boxing champion as being a result of using drugs. Malignaggi, who once spoke favorably and respectfully of Pacquiao has changed his tune after selling his soul to Al Haymon."
The article continues: "Malignaggi has become a media manipulation tool who promotes the agenda of Floyd Maayweather and Al Haymon, which is to slander and discredit and diminish the achievements of Manny Pacquiao. The malignant media mouthpiece from Brooklyn has done countless media interviews where he slanders Pacquiao as a drug cheat without any concrete evidence, just 'educated' opinions and personal suspicions."
