J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18.

Disney may re-release the theatrical cuts of the original "Star Wars" trilogy.

"Animal House" filmmaker John Landis made the revelation at a "Halloween Horror Nights" Q&A, as per Empire Magazine's Twitter post. As per a follow-up tweet, Landis got the information when he last spoke with "Star Wars" director George Lucas.

While it is assumed that fans will be getting a Blu-ray release of "Star Wars: A New Hope," "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," and "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," Lucas could have been referring to a theatrical re-release, as the director's statement was vague, as per Cinema Blend.

The release of the "Star Wars" theatrical cuts also entails that fans can watch Han Solo shoot in superb high definition for a number of times, in addition to other nostalgic scenes in the original "Star Wars" trilogy. Such scenes were rumored to be restored with digital editions; however, it did not work out.

Last year, Disney had plans to "Star Wars: A New Hope," "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," and "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" in their complete and original forms on Blu-ray, as per Comic Book. However, with Landis' revelation, it is also assumed the uncut versions of the films could be back in theaters without special editions made.

Meanwhile, fans will be seeing J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" soon. The film is set 30 years following the events in the "Return of Jedi" and it unifies both old and new heroes and villains, including Isaac, Hamill, Simon Pegg, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.
