Tweets started flowing when Lindy West solicited comments on how abortion affected or changed women's lives.

Tweets, blogs and other commentaries have been flooding almost all social media sites over the weekend about abortion. It all started when Amelia Bonow shared her recent experience about abortion on Facebook. It was then followed by a tweet from Lindy West and then other women started exposing theirs.

Tweets started flowing when West solicited comments on how abortion affected or changed women's lives. West, Bonow and fellow campaigner, Kimberly Morrison, used #ShoutYourAbortion to gather thoughts and sharing from netizens who had experienced abortion, Huffington Post reported.

All these started when the United States' House of Representatives passed the bill on defunding Planned Parenthood. According to the sentiments of Bonow, she considers the said bill as an assault to "war on women's physical autonomy." Bonow then started gathering reactions about the passing of the bill through tweets, comments and blogs from women who underwent abortion. Bonow and fellow advocates wanted to change people's perception about abortion and is aiming to establish a movement that will prove that abortion is only one of the medical procedures that doctors conduct and not a question of morality.

According to Mashable, this is not the only hashtag created about abortion, recently another organization initiated #MenForChoice campaign in the internet. This campaign was launched before Bonow's Facebook post about her own abortion experience. Bonow's goal is to stop women from believing that abortion is a proof of immorality and wanted to challenge the communities' stigma about abortion. Bonow was amazed by the overflowing netizens who reacted about this issue, especially those who supported her story.

It wouldn't be surprising if people who are against abortion will answer tweets with their own thoughts about the issue. Bonow is hoping that with her story of abortion setting trend in the internet, it will help her and her fellow advocates to start a pro-abortion movement.
