"Avengers: Age of Ultron" actor Paul Bettany has shared his thoughts on his role in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Captain America: Civil War."
Bettany flew by helicopter to the World Trade Center in Pasay City, Philippines to participate in a public panel for the 2015 AsiaPOP Comic Convention. In his interview with DJ Nikko Ramos via the Philippine Entertainment Portal, Bettany said that playing The Vision was absolutely interesting and fun, since the character is treacherous.
Bettany also mentioned that the character is unpredictable, as The Vision could be a force of good or a force of evil. The actor also added that with fans seeing J.A.R.V.I.S.'s transformation into The Vision in Joss Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," The Vision should demonstrate the sense of omnipotence and naivety at the same time because he was bound to explore the world in "real time" and find his spot in it.
For Bettany, the character has a tendency to become a polarized force, which will be seen more in the Russos' forthcoming "Captain America: Civil War."
According to Cinema Blend, Bettany's The Vision gives the impression of a wild card, similar to Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch. While his rise in Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" sees J.A.R.V.I.S.'s physical form "on the side of life," it is uncertain if The Vision will be seen alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Bettany will reprise his role as the Vision in the Russos' forthcoming "Captain America: Civil War," which centers on the Accords, a law regulated by the government to limit superheroes from using their powers.
The Vision is set to team up with Iron Man's team, which reportedly includes Black Widow, War Machine, and Black Panther. Their team opposes Captain America's team, which includes Hawkeye, Falcon, Ant-Man, and Agent 13.
The Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 6, 2016.
