With Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" coming to theaters next year, the director himself has revealed that the story is more of a sequel.
In his interview with Canoe, Snyder said that fans should treat "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" as "Man of Steel 2." The filmmaker also mentioned that "Justice League" is a supreme and "knights-of-the-round-table" story that it would be interesting to reflect on what a separate "Man of Steel" film might be.
According to Cinema Blend, the development of the "Man of Steel" sequel rose after the reports saying that "Mad Max: Fury Road" director George Miller was set to helm the film sequel. The "Man of Steel" sequel reportedly follows Superman, along with Brainiac as the primary antagonist. Also, it was reported earlier that "Man of Steel 2" will feature Bizarro and will have the cinematic debut of Supergirl.
Warner Bros. has yet to give the green light for a "Man of Steel" sequel; however, Snyder's statement indicates that fans will see an aftermath of the incidents in "Man of Steel" in his upcoming film. Though the filmmaker has said that the film should be viewed as "Man of Steel 2," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be more of the Dark Knight's take.
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will serve as a catalyst to the emergence of the Justice League. Along with Eisenberg, the film also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Amy Adams, among others.
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016. Watch the trailer here:
