"Ghostbusters" original cast members Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts have joined the growing cast ensemble of Paul Feig's upcoming "Ghostbusters" film reboot.
Hudson played the role of Winston Zeddemore, one of the original ghostbusters in Ivan Reitman's "Ghostbusters." According to the The Hollywood Reporter, it is still uncertain at this point if the actor will be seen once again as Zeddemore or will play a new character set by Feig and Sony for the upcoming film reboot. There is no word from Sony about Zeddemore's role and how he will impact the events in the film.
Aside from Reitman's "Ghostbusters," Hudson is known for his roles in Alex Proyas' action-fantasy film "The Crow" and Tom Fontana's crima thriller television series "Oz." The actor has a number of upcoming films, including Brett Rapkin's drama film "Spaceman," Michael Landon Jr.'s family film "Heaven Sent," and Gene Fallaize's action adventure "Dark Ascension," among others.
Meanwhile, Potts played the Ghostbusters receptionist in the earlier versions of the film and she is set to play a hotel clerk in Feig's upcoming film, as per Boston Herald. No other details have been mentioned on whether she will be linked with the all-female titular team.
Along with Reitman's "Ghostbusters," Potts is also known for her roles in Linda Bloodworth-Thomason's comedy television series "Designing Women" and James Duff's crime television series "Major Crimes." She also voiced the character Bo Peep in "Toy Story" films. Potts will be seen in Heather de Michele's comedy drama "As Good As You" and Marc Buckland's "Paging Dr. Feed."
Reitman's 1984 "Ghostbusters" followed parapsychology professors who set up a shop as their unique ghost removal service. Feig's upcoming "Ghostbusters" will most likely follow the same premise while showcasing a blend of old and new cast members. Aside from Hudson and Potts, Feig's film stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Chris Hemsworth, Kristen wig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.
Feig's "Ghostbusters" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 15, 2016.
