‘DWTS’ Season 21 Star Kim Zolciak Hospitalized; Minor Stroke Caused By Botox?

Kim Zolciak posted a sweet photo of her and husband Kory Biermann on Instagram.

"Dancing with the Stars" season 21 contestant and "Real Housewives of Atlanta" alum Kim Zolciak is currently recovering from mini-stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Before her hospitalization, she visited a doctor for some Botox.

Open about her plastic surgery, Zolciak did not keep it a secret when she visited Dr. Simon Ourian episode for some Botox before the Sept. 21, Monday, episode of "DWTS" season 21. Days after this, she announced that had temporarily lost the ability to speak after suffering a minor stroke following her flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta.

On Sept. 25, Friday, Zolciak took to Instagram to share a photo of herself sleeping in her hospital beside with her NFL star husband, the Atlanta Falcons defensive end Kroy Biermann. She captioned the photo, "All that matters... FAMILY pic taken last night by @briellebiermann."

Following this incident, Zeichner Dermatology's Dr. Joshua Zeichner explained to Hollywood Life why botox may not be the cause of Zolciak's minor stroke. The doctor told the publication that Botox is a safe treatment and it has not been associated with the development of strokes.

Zeichner added that the development of strokes is usually caused by a blockage of a blood vessel, which provides nutrients to the brain, and Botox has been used to relax spastic muscles that can develop after some strokes.

In other news, days before Zolciak suffered minor stroke, Biermann spoke about the recent win of the Atlanta Falcons. He told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "We're a ball-attacking team. We're going after the ball every play."
