The fifth season of the American television drama series Homeland, consisting of 12 episodes, will premiere on October 4, 2015 on Showtime.

"Homeland" is all set to return for its fifth season. The new season will take place two years in the future and will showcase Carrie Mathison's and Saul's conflicts.

In the upcoming season of "Homeland," Mathison will attempt a shot at a new life, according to iDigital Times. She will leave the Central Intelligence Agency and become a full time mother. However, even after leaving the CIA will not get her any peace in her life. The pilot episode synopsis shows that she will face dangerous threats in this season, which are more dangerous than ever before, according to Showtime.

However, she cannot count on either Saul or Quinn to watch her back this time. In addition, Mathison's chronic bipolar disease is also making it more difficult for her to accept the changes in her life. This episode is titled as "Separation Anxiety" and hints at Mathison's hard time towards adjusting in her new life.

Season 4 ended on a rather subtle note last year. There were many unanswered questions after the Season 4 finale. The first and foremost was about the fate of Quinn. He was shown leaving for a mission in Syria. The other hanging theory about Saul and Dar Adal's intentions towards this mission will also be answered.

Many new faces will be seen in this season, with a lot of plot turns and twists. A few actors who will be making a confirmed appearance in this season are Miranda Otto, Micah Hauptman, and Mark Ivanir. All three of them will be a part of Saul's team, helping him run the Berlin base of Berlin CIA.

"Homeland" Season 5 will return on Oct. 4, on Showtime.
