Tom Holland will play Spider-Man in Jon Watts' "Spider-Man."

New details for the "Spider-Man" 2017 movie have been revealed regarding Marvel's plan for the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his allegiance in "Captain America: Civil War".

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced his plans for Spider-Man's role within Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige told IGN that having Spider-Man in the MCU is a huge deal for him on a personal level because of the many ideas and concepts they can incorporate for web-slinger in both solo and crossover movies. He added that Spider-Man belongs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his diversity as a hero made him unique from other superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America and the rest of the Avengers and he will serve great purpose to these characters in future projects.

"In the Heart of Sea" actor Tom Holland will be playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the MCU as Marvel revealed that Peter will be a 15-year-old high school student and 2017 film will be a coming-of-age story as Peter to balance his scool work and being Spider-Man.

Feige also revealed a contingency plans in case that Holland was not able to commit to the role or give life to the character stating that with or without him, they will continue to make Spider-Man films, ComicBookMovie reported.

In other news, there are rumors making rounds that Spider-Man (Holland) will likely betray Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) to join Captain America's (Chris Evans) side in "Captain America: Civil War".

Spidey along with Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) are speculated to switch sides as Wanda will join Iron Man for Vision (Paul Bettany): However, Olsen stated her character could be a "wild card" in the film due to her unpredictable powers. Peter Parker in the film will join Tony Stark's team of Avengers in order to support the MCU's version of Super Human Registration Act, "The Accords". It was also rumored that Tony will provide Peter with his own costume and web shooters as a way to persuade him on his side.

It is speculated that Spidey will turn on Iron Man after the realization that he made a mistake in supporting the act similar to the comics.

Spider-Man will appear first in "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6, 2016 and his new solo film on July 28, 2017.
