The world will go pink this month since October is the awareness month for breast cancer, the most common type of cancer diagnosis among women. One in eight women are diagnosed with the disease, yet the survival rate is quite high five years after receiving a diagnosis. Here are some famous celebrities who have battled and survived the disease:

Kylie Minogue

The Australian pop star first received a misdiagnosis, but the second round of medical tests found a tumor in her left breast, according to Health. She then had chemo and radiation therapy, and a partial mastectomy.

Cynthia Nixon

Nixon is best known as a co-star in the hit TV series "Sex and the City," and is also a breast cancer survivor. After living with the disease for two years she made the news public that diagnostic equipment had discovered a cancerous tumor in one of her breasts, according to New York Daily News.
