Square Enix changed the way players will go through the battles in "Final Fantasy XV" by introducing real-time weapon switching to give players more control.
This was revealed over at the official forums of the game, with Gematsu's translation. According to "Final Fantasy XV" Director Hajime Tabata, the new system will let players choose which buttons to assign four main weapons in advance. One weapon will be assigned to the four buttons of the d-pad so that players can easily click on them and switch the weapons real-time in battle.
The introduction of this new battle system comes in place of the old one, which had been criticized during the "Duscae" demo. It appears that players experienced unintentional automatic switching when a player attacks consecutively.
"Final Fantasy XV" is pushing forward a groundbreaking title in the franchise. Earlier, the developer also stated that players can look forward to a new villain that will be the best so far in the series, VG 24/7 reported.
Square Enix promised to release more information about this later on. This may be banking on the fact that an emotional story is driving the plot of the game, if at all hinted by the melodramatic trailer featuring hero-protagonist Noctis and his father.
Other features coming to "Final Fantasy XV" include players being able to ride Chocobos and fishing as an activity and a way to gather up ingredients. A new character Luna is also coming with a major role in the overall events of the game.
The developer still has a lot of information to roll out before "Final Fantasy XV" becomes available to fans. One of these is the definite release date of the game, which has yet to be revealed.
