Demi Lovato’s Nude Photos For Vanity Fair Unretouched

"Cool for the Summer" singer Demi Lovato posed with no makeup and clothes for a Vanity Fair photoshoot.

The death of her great-grandfather, Buddy Moore, gave singer Demi Lovato a new found sense of self-acceptance. She decided to display that side of her personality that is real, liberated and free by posing nude for Vanity Fair.

Demi's images are unretouched. Besides not having any clothing, she also did not put on makeup and there was no fancy lighting by photographer Patrick Ecclesine. These are part of the body-positive image that Demi is striving for, reports Time.

Ecclesine, who shares the experience in Vanity Fair, says the shoot was done in a hotel room with only himself, Demi and the singer's assistant. The photo shoot was very silent and they made their way through the room by communicating with subtle gestures, nods and head tilts. "Lovato had rarely posed nude before, so I had to be respectful of that and tread lighty," Ecclesine recalls.

Demi used to have an eating disorder which she tackled in a behind-the-scenes video. "I never would've thought I'd get to a point in my life where I'd feel comfortable doing that," the singer says of the video.

The release of another album is a fresh opportunity for Demi to embrace this new chapter in her life. Explaining the messages she wants to convey with her new album, the singer says that walking the walk and being confident means "to show the side of me that's real, that's liberated, that's free" which could be achieved by a photo shoot that's "totally raw."

The album, titled "Confident," would be released on Oct. 16.
