Google Photos App released updates with new features: Chromecast Support, WhatsAp GIF sharing, Labels

Google released a new version of Google Photos on Oct. 1 with a new set of features.

The Photos app, which is now available for iOS, Android, and Web platforms, will now be equipped with a new feature named "shared albums". This feature will be available by the end of this year, and will allows users to share photo albums with others.

According to Slash Gear, one of the most significant updates this time in the Google Photos 1.6 is the Chromecast support.  Now, apart from the ability to share photos to a Chromecast device via the web or to an Android device, a user can also customize labels along with GIF sharing to WhatsApp.

Google initially targeted to launch the Chromecast support by later this year; however, it seems that the feature is active for now as long as you turn on the Android TV device or switch on the Chromecast for the first time post the app download to the Android device.

Moreover, users will now be able to search a screen page while the app shows all faces from the photo collection, First Post reported. users can also add labels to these images by simply tapping on the faces.

The update also highlighted key features like the ability to store unlimited images and video though with an image resolution restricted to 16 megapixels and video resolution to 1080p.

Google had announced the update to its Photo app on May 28 this year at the Google I/O developers meet. This app will be available for download for all platforms including iOS, Android and the Web.
