PS4 Price Cut Hinted By Target, Retailer Offers Discount Deals Of $50 Gift Card For 3 PS4 Bundles

PS4 owners can expect the detailed system update 3.0 in the coming weeks.

The PS4 may be looking at a price drop sometime in the coming months, if a new leak is to be believed.

Target, a games retailer situated in North America, has unintentionally leaked a poster announcing a $50 price drop for the PS4. This will bring down Sony's next-gen console to a $349 price tag, GameSpot reported.

Sony itself has not yet announced any price drop plans. The previously leaked poster in Target has also been since taken down, though the source does have a screenshot of the offer, which clearly says that it is a "price drop" for the console. The screenshot is accompanied by the "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection," which is scheduled to drop to retailers come Oct. 10.

The timing for the PS4 price drop is interesting, as it follows closely the price cut announcement for PS4 consoles in Japan. One also has to consider that the holidays are already nearing, which brings new game releases as well as sale opportunities. Bringing down the price of the PS4 during this time is a logical move to reap in more PS4 sales.

Still, it is best to wait for Sony's official announcement. It is also possible that Sony may be planning to release PS4 bundles in time for the holidays, seeing as how Microsoft has recently announced a few for the Xbox One.

For now, players can still check out an ongoing promo at Target, where buyers can get a $50 gift card for purchasing select PS4 consoles, Polygon reported. There are three PS4 consoles included in the promo, namely the "Destiny" white PS4 bundle, "The Last of Us" bundle and the "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" PS4 bundle.

All of the bundles will have the 500GB PS4 console at $399. The offer stand until Oct. 10, so regular buyers at Target should take advantage of this promo.
