The rumored Motorola DROID Turbo 2 release date from Verizon Wireless could happen real soon as the Moto X 2015 sibling was reportedly certified by the Global Certification Forum. What should follow next is the landing of the device codenamed Motorola Bounce.
Sifting through the GCF documents, G4Games unearthed a recent certification for a Motorola-made device with model number XT1585. As with previous certifications of mobile devices, the GCF approval means one thing - that the Motorola XT1585 is coming out and the likelihood is the unboxing will take place this October.
In an earlier report, Phandroid claimed that the DROID Turbo 2 and an earlier rumored Moto X Force are one and the same. It is likely that the Turbo 2 is the official name of the device for U.S. buyers that will exclusively come from Verizon. In the event the DROID Turbo is released internationally, it's label will be Moto X Force.
The blog site added that internally, Motorola refers to the XT1585 as the Motorola Bounce, which hints of rugged design and features. Essentially, it is a variant of the Moto X 2015 that will boast of sturdy metal framing and a display screen that is nearly unbreakable.
Phandroid also supplied the following specs that will supposedly unbox with the DROID Turbo 2:
- 5.43-inch QHD Shatterproof display
- Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 processor
- 32GB/64GB internal storage options
- 3GB of RAM
- Camera combo of21MP on rear and 5MP on rear
- Massive 3760mAh battery
It is expected too that like its 2015 Moto X siblings, the DROID Turbo 2 will run on near-vanilla Android 5.1.1 Lollipop that will soon bump up to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
As a Verizon exclusive, the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 will be made public next week or October 15. And as suggested by the GCF certification, release date of the device will follow shortly so Moto X and Android fans are advised to mark October 29 on their calendars as D-Day.
