Xiaomi fans are already eagerly awaiting the Xiaomi Mi 5 just months after the release of the powerful and affordable Mi 4c.

This eager anticipation is in a big part due to rumors that hint towards Xiaomi's newest offering, featuring Snapdragon 820 SoC.

According to a source on one of China's social media pages, the Xiaomi Mi 5 might be the first smartphone to benefit from Qualcomm's latest innovation - ultrasonic fingerprint recognition.

Qualcomm introduced this new technology at the MWC in March.

The ultrasonic feature allows 3D-mapped fingerprints, and is so sensitive that it can even work with a finger that is dirty or wet, according to Phone Arena.

It is also powerful enough to map through plastic, paper or metal.

In the Xiaomi Mi 5, this technology, marketed as the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, was paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU, all of which gave the smartphone a particularly big punch.

The handset, too, is set to impress with a 5.3-inch QHD (1440x2560) pixels resolution and pixel density of 554ppi.

There are two storage options, either 16GB or 64GB, both inbuilt.

Other interesting features are a 16-megapixel rear camera sporting a dual-LED flash, a 3030mAh battery, and a USB Type-C port, which could be the 3.0 version.

Another exciting piece of news is that Xiaomi might launch the second-generation of the Mi Note smartphone in November, according to Tech Times.

Some of the specifications that might be expected in Xiaomi's range of notebooks are a 5.7-inch display, featuring a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and pixel density of 515 pixels per inch, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of memory storage, according to Leaksfly.
