Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green started dating in 2004 and got married in 2010.

The executive producer of "New Girl" season 5 just confirmed that Megan Fox will temporarily replace Zooey Deschanel on the hit FOX series.

Immediately after the announcement, Deschanel's fans reacted negatively on social media. Most of them noted that Fox is not the best replacement for the actress who plays the role of Jess on the show.

Some fans also noted their concern that Fox may not be suited for a role on the show because she's not known for being a funnywoman.

However, executive producer Liz Merriweather told fans that they just have to accept their decision to cast Fox. The exec added that the actress is actually very funny.

One fan tweeted, "Megan Fox will be on New Girl Season 5. Please be funny."

Another fan wrote, "Disappointed is an understatement for how I feel about Megan Fox replacing Zooey on New Girl."

Meanwhile, according to Inquisitr, Fox doesn't really care about what fans may think about her new casting as long as she has Deschanel's support.

A few hours after Meriweather released her statement regarding Fox's casting, Deschanel expressed her excitement on Twitter.

"The lovely and amazing @meganfox will be on #NewGirl season 5," she wrote last month.

In other news, "New Girl" season 5 will focus on Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece's (Hanna Simone) wedding preparations and wedding proper.

According to Meriweather, Schmidt will turn into a groomzilla because he will be so pressured with putting up a perfect wedding for his fiancée.

"New Girl" season 5 will premiere on FOX sometime next year.
