With a reported production budget of $108 million, the film's gross was boosted by the international sales to nearly $160 million worldwide on its tenth day of release, as per Cinema Blend. At present, it could be seen that the film has grossed more than double the value of its production budget.

While it starred "X-Men" actor Hugh Jackman, who is a great box office draw, "Pan" came at number three at the box office, falling behind Genndy Tartakovsky's "Hotel Transylvania," which has got a worldwide gross of $207.7 million.

Meanwhile, "The Martian" follows the astronaut Mark Watney as he gets stranded on Mars following a windstorm. The incident prompts the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) team to make a move to save Watney. The film stars Michael Peña, Sebastian Stan, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, Sean Bean, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain, and Damon as Watney.

Along with Scott directing the film, Drew Goddard is on board to pen the script of the film. Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood, Mark Huffam, and Michael Schaefer are set to co-produce the film.

Directed by Scott, "The Martian" is now showing in theaters. Watch the trailer here:
