Football Transfer Rumors: Ex-Reds Striker Stan Collymore Says Jürgen Klopp Will Sell Christian Benteke, Adam Lallana In January For £57M

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore said that new Reds coach Jürgen Klopp will sell two of the club's newest transfer acquisitions, Christian Benteke and Adam Lallana, for an estimated £57 million when the transfer window re-opens this January.

Caught Offside indicated that Collymore thinks the German coach "will look to offload" Benteke and Lallana as soon as the winter window begins to immediately "put his stamp" on the underachieving team he had inherited.

The 24-year-old Benteke, who was signed by Liverpool last July from Aston Villa for £32.5 million, has been a disappointment so far at the Anfield, scoring only two goals in six appearances for Brendan Rodgers.

The Belgian striker, who was considered by many football analysts as a transfer flop, was benched in the Reds' two most recent games and was substituted in the second half of his last appearance on September 20 versus Norwich City because of his poor plays.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old winger Lallana is also reportedly set to be transferred as he is barely used and has not been effective in Liverpool's rotation.

The England international was acquired by the Reds from Southampton last summer for £25 million but had not played up to expectations as well so far. He only had six goals in 41 games last season for Liverpool and is still goalless in four appearances this year.

Collymore further said that "Klopp's high-intensity game is not suited" for the two players, which is why he "expects them to leave the club," as per Metro.

However, Klopp was adamant that he and his coaching staff will look for internal options first before going on a spending spree in January. He even said that the rumors about his plan to raid his former Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund, were not true and that he has no intentions of doing such a thing.
