Boxing News: David Lemieux Out To Beat The Odds Against Gennady Golovkin On Saturday

| Oct 15, 2015 11:23 AM EDT

David Lemieux is set to face Gennady Golovkin on Saturday at the Madison Square Garden.

The highly-anticipated fight of two forward-moving heavy-hitters, Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) and David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), at the Madison Square Garden is finally days away on October 17. GGG is the overwhelming favorite but the Canadian brawler reportedly vowed to beat the odds and take the middleweight titles away from the God of War.

Newsday reported that according to Lemieux, he not only intends to knock out the Kazakh sensation during their bout but he also plans to leave the arena with all the belts around his waist.

Golovkin's WBA (Super), IBO, and interim WBC middleweight belts are up for grabs while Lemieux's IBF middleweight title is also at stake in the match.

"This is more than a fight," the 26-year-old Montreal native told reporters during the fight's final news conference on Wednesday. "It's a statement I'm going to make. I'm going to put my flag on this territory... I'm an all-or-nothing person. I know what I can do, and I'm not leaving the Garden without those belts."

Heavy noted that Golovkin is the odds-on-favorite among most prominent online bookies, namely:

bet365: Gennady Golovkin -2000   David Lemieux +900

skyBET: Gennady Golovkin -1400   David Lemieux +700

BETFRED: Gennady Golovkin -1600   David Lemieux +900

StanJames: Gennady Golovkin -1800   David Lemieux +650

However, Lemieux has not lost heart and said that he will not come into the ring with the mindset of a loser.

"I'm going to be different than his other opponents who were beaten before they went in the ring with him," Lemieux said. "He's got a good chin, but let's see. I'm pretty sure I will put him off his feet."

"He's only human," he ended.
