‘Thor: Ragnarok’: Taika Waititi’s Film To Include Superheroine Valkyrie?

Valkyrie is a Norse superheroine rumored to appear in Taika Waititi's "Thor: Ragnarok."

A female comic book superhero has been reported to debut in Taika Waititi's forthcoming Marvel Comics film "Thor: Ragnarok."

Sources told Birth Movies Death that the heroine named Valkyrie would be making her initial appearance in Marvel's Cinematic Universe via Waititi's upcoming film. But then, no specific details were revealed on how the superheroine would impact the film's storyline.

Initially introduced in "The Avengers" comic book, Valkyrie, also known as Brunnhilde, is an Asgardian warrior who leads Valkyrior, a group that goes into the battlefield and takes killed soldier to Valhalla. The superheroine was also a member of The Defenders and had The Enchantress as her adversary. Aside from her strength and durability, Valkyrie is also known for her spear and sword wielding skills.

In 2014, Marvel Studios had planned to include Valkyrie as hinted by the concept art from Alan Taylor's "Thor: The Dark World." But since the superheroine was not able to enter Marvel's Cinematic Universe in the aforementioned film, she had a chance to appear in Waititi's forthcoming "Thor: Ragnarok," as per Cinema Blend.

According to Birth Movies Death, with Valkyrie potentially joining Marvel's Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios would have to screen a number of powerful women who could also play the role of Captain Marvel.

Meanwhile, "Thor: Ragnarok" will see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor while Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Thor's wicked brother, Loki. Jaimie Alexander is also set to appear in the film, playing the role of Lady Sif.

Waikiki's "Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 3, 2017.
