The Hulk, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo, is set to appear in "Thor: Ragnarok" after playing a role in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk is into final negotiations to officially join the cast of the 2017 superhero flick "Thor: Ragnarok."

The "Spotlight" actor's involvement in the third installment of Marvel Studios' "Thor" franchise has caused quite a stir in geek sites, Deadline reported.

Now that his role in "Thor: Ragnarok" was confirmed, fans of the brawny green guy are ecstatic to see him alongside the hammer-wielding Thor, still to be portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. Reprising their roles in the 2017 film are Tom Hiddleston as and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif.

Avid watchers of the "Thor" franchises will be transported to a place "other than Earth and Asgard" in the third installment directed by Taika Waititi, Variety reported.

The 40-year-old New Zealand director is tightlipped about "Thor" though he is inclined to discuss the writing he did for the Walt Disney film "Moana."  A freelance film critic tweeted that the competent Waititi is a "bold choice' to helm the project.

Easing the hulk into movies involving the Avengers team was easy. Creating a standalone film featuring the mighty green superhero proved more difficult to get off the drawing board.

Ruffalo's Hulk was last seen in smashing scenes in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and then being jettisoned via the technologically advanced Quinjet to an unknown destination.

Hulk fans are excited to see how his story will pan out. Speculations are rife that he may become a central character in "Thor: Ragnarok"  in much the same way Black Widow did in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Comicbook and movie buffs tweeted that the Marvel Universe storyline on Planet Hulk taking shape in the big screen will be "awesome."

Marvel superheroes' fans are waiting with bated breath, wherever the action will be. "Thor: Ragnarok" will not kick things off until November 2017, when it hits United States cinemas.
