Gregory Plotkin’s “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Oct. 23.

Gregory Plotkin's "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" might not premiere in many theaters unlike last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount, the studio behind Plotkin's forthcoming horror film had made a deal with a number of theater chains, which had led other theaters not to run the fifth installment of the film.

As a result, "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" would only open in just 1,400 theaters, which was less than half of the 2,883 theaters that had carried "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" last year.

While theaters were looking to turn their backs on the fifth installment of the "Paranormal Activity" franchise, this did not worry Paramount one bit, as per Cinema Blend. The publication said that with the release of the new theatrical/ VOD release model, the film would be given another opportunity to gross even if the sales from Halloween holiday had declined.

Overall, this new system Paramount is plotting to forefront could let the studio and film theaters to boost new films to the big screen at a faster pace while recovering some funds along the way.

"Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" stars Michael Krawic, Don McManus, Jessica Tyler Brown, Chloe Csengery, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Dan Gill, Ivy George, Brit Shaw, and Chris J. Murray, among others.

Along with Plotkin set to helm the film, Jason Pagan, Andrew Deutschman, Adam Robitel, and Gavin Heffernan are on board to co-write the screenplay based on the film "Paranormal Activity."

Plotkin's "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Oct. 23.
