Full List of 12,566 Pounds of Beef, Pork, and Poultry Recalled For Misbranding, Labeling Issues

Ranch foods recall 12,566 meat products

About 12,566 pounds of beef, pork, and poultry products produced by Good Food Concepts in Colorado Springs will be recalled following a federal agency discovery that the products were improperly branded, and contained sodium nitrite which was not specified on the product label.

A routine inspection by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the Department of Agriculture to the facilities of the food company revealed that they have not complied with the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan of the federal government in regard to meat products produced within the past one year.

The FSIS announced on October 18 that meat items produced between October 16, 2014 to October 16, 2015 were affected by this recall. These products can be identified by the establishment number "EST.27316" marked inside the USDA mark of inspection; and they were largely sold to retail outlets in Colorado and New Mexico.

Some of the affected products are the Ranch Foods direct smoked bacon, bacon ends, smoked pit ham, pork smoke ham butt portion bi, pork ham butt portion bi, pork smoked ham shank portion bi, pork ham steak, pork Peepa's ham bnls, pork smoke ham diced, pork smoke ham ground, pork smoked ham shanks sliced, pepperoni slice, Genoa classic, beef pastrami, bologna slice, pepperoni, ham steak country style, ham deli sliced, Canadian bacon, bologna, pork liverwurst Westphalian, pork liverwurst pistachio deli style, turkey breast natural smoked, sliced; roasted deli turkey, Bristol beer bratwurst, polish sausage pork, sausage pork bangers, Andouille, Linguisa, pork smoked German bratwurst, German bratwurst, Kolbasa ring, 8/1 hot dogs, sausage beef hot dog foot long 5/1, veal brats, and corned beef brisket.

Although health authorities have not confirmed any illness or injury emanating from the consumption of these beef, pork, and poultry products, customers are advised to trash them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement.

The FSIS professionally visits food producers to ensure that they comply with all health policies amidst other federal requirements, and when a health breach is observed and capable of causing widespread ill-health, the products are ordered recalled.
