Nike MAG, the world's first self-lacing shoes were modeled by the "Back to the Future" star Michael J. Fox, who first introduced the concept of power-lacing shoes in 1989's sequel of the movie. According to the twitter account of the 54-year-old Hollywood star, the Nike MAG will arrive in spring 2016.

Nike Mag will be the world's first self-lacing shoes and who could have been better to break the news than the very person who brought us the concept, Marty McFly. Inspired-by shoes were featured in Back to the Future II, in which Marty, played by Michael J. Fox, wore the shoes when he traveled to the famous date, October 21, 2015.

Nike has confirmed the story that the shoes were in New York on Back to the Future Day that was heavily twitted and shared around on Facebook and other social media channels. Moreover, the designer of the well-renowned sportswear brand, Tinker Hatfield wrote a letter to Michael that he will be gifted the first pair of Mag sneakers.

Nike secured the patent for the power lacing shoes back in 2010. A year later, the brand launched Nike Mag range, not bearing the automatic tying function, as an inspiration collection. However, Nike rocked the masses earlier this year, when during an event in Miami Tinker finally announced that they are going to make fully functional self-lacing shoes.

The Back to the Future sequel made many predictions about the future and quite a few were fulfilled. With the advent of Nike Mag self-lacing shoes, another prophecy came to completion. The design of the automatically lacing sneakers is inspired from the ones featured in 1989's classic sci-fi blockbuster, boasting high tops, striped laces and stylish outlook wearing all-gray.

The news of the real self-lacing shoes first came from the star himself as he posted a photo on his twitter account named MichaeJFoxOrg. The photo showed him wearing a pair of real Nike Mag sneakers, which closely outlined the concept shoes while the caption clued they could be rolling out this spring.

Michael also shared the photo of the letter from Tinker that the firm wanted the actor to receive the first "living pair" of Nike Mag shoes. Of course, this is part the marketing strategy by the sportswear firm, but it sure did make Back to the Future fans talking about it ever where.
