On a closer analysis on the report, it is evident that the sales figure for Xbox hardware is less compared to that of the previous year sales revenue for the same period.

Recently, Microsoft team came out with a report on their quarterly sales volume. On a closer analysis on the report, it is evident that the sales figure for Xbox hardware is less compared to that of the previous year sales revenue for the same period. Yet another significant factor is that the sale of Xbox game has gone up significantly, and the figures have been promising too.

The report provided by Microsoft suggested that the sales of Xbox hardware has gone down by 17 percent compared to that of previous year: however, there is no significant data or breakdown on sales details of Xbox One hardware. The reason to the huge fall in sale is attributed to Xbox 360 hardware.

Although hardware sales figure seems to be disappointing, according to Attack of Fanboy, the beneficial part is that the use of Xbox Live has significantly gone up to 28 percent compared to that of in previous years. At present, there are almost 39 million active users playing their games using Xbox Live. The revenue earned from sale of Live has increased by 17 percent. Also, video games have seen a significant sale increase.

The purchase and use of video games has gone up to 66 percent compared to previous year figure. This is mainly due to the release of "Minecraft" that remained successful in every platform it was released. The game even stood as the best among 10 games of all time.

Team Microsoft also expects that the sale of Xbox hardware might increase in the next quarter. With "Halo 5" and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" waiting its release, the sale of Xbox hardware is definitely going to increase.
