Fans of "Longmire" are eagerly awaiting for news of renewal (or cancellation) from the producers of the Netflix series. Although season 4 ended with a cliffhanger, some argued that it may not be a reason to renew the show for a fifth season.

In an interview with Yahoo! TV, executive producer John Coveny seemed to be confident about the show's fate. He revealed that when the streaming site agreed to pick up the show from A&E, they talked about how long they were able to discuss their long-term plans for the series.

Coveny explained that they perceived that "Longmire" will run to 8, 9, 10 seasons. He shared that there are a lot more stories that they needed to tell.

Meanwhile, showrunner Hunt Baldwin mentioned that they were not at all worried when A&E pulled the plug on them. He shared that everyone refused to believe that it was over for the show, thinking that they will be able to find a new home in no time.

Coveny added that they all shred blood, sweat and tears in the production meeting with Netflix. He said that they all gave it their best shot and hoped for the best. Their perseverance eventually paid off when the streaming giant decided to air the series. It is, however, yet to be seen if they will be lucky again this time around.

As Vine Report pointed out, the Netflix executives may still be weighing their decision whether to renew the series or not. The outlet reported that since season 4 only aired on Sept. 10, it may not have been watched by a large audience just yet.
