Premier League 2015-2016: Newcastle United vs Stoke City, Preview, Prediction & Predicted Lineup

| Oct 28, 2015 02:16 AM EDT

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam competes for the ball against Watford's Odion Ighalo.

Bottom-three squad Newcastle United (1-6-3, 6 points) will try to add another victory to their disappointing 2015-2016 Premier League campaign against mercurial team Stoke City (3-4-3, 12 points) at the St. James Park on October 31st, Saturday.

After Steve McClaren snatched his first win as the Magpies' head coach two weeks ago with a dominating 6-2 victory over Norwich City, they are back to earth last Sunday with a 0-3 thrashing in the hands of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Team captain Fabricio Coloccini was sent off before halftime, allowing the Black Cats to have a man advantage in the game and score three straight ever since from goals by midfielder Adam Johnson, defender Billy Jones, and forward Steven Fletcher, as reported by The Guardian.

Meanwhile, Stoke City dropped a 0-2 affair with newly-promoted club Watford at the Britannia Stadium last Saturday, as per SkySports.

Mark Hughes' men were unable to stop striker Troy Deeney and midfielder Almen Abdi from scoring at the 43rd and 69th-minute marks, which dropped them to the 14th spot on the league table behind the Hornets.

It was the Potters first loss in five games after going on a three-game winning run that began with a draw versus Leicester City in the middle of September.

Hughes and the Potters will look to redeem themselves in this match against the hard-luck Magpies as McClaren's debut season continues to go out of hand.

The predicted result is a 2-0 win for Stoke City.

Newcastle United starting lineup (4-4-2 formation): Elliot; Janmaat, Dummett, Mbemba, Haïdara; Tioté, Wijnaldum, Sissoko, Colback; Pérez, Mitrovic

Stoke City starting lineup (4-2-3-1 formation): Butland; Cameron, Johnson, Wollscheid, Pieters; Bojan, Whelan; Arnautovic, Shaqiri, Adam; Joselu
