Sony did not officially announce the release of its Xperia Z5 smartphones in the United States, but the Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Compact are now available in the region.

An unlocked model of the flagship device of the series, Xperia Z5, can be purchased via Expansys for $669.99. On the other hand, the Xperia Z5 Compact can be purchased on Amazon via a third-party vendor.

The models being sold are of international variant. Phones purchased via Amazon are also not covered by Sony's official warranty policy.

The Xperia Z5 Compact comes in four color variants; yellow, white, coral red and the ubiquitous black color. Depending on the color choice, the Xperia Z5 Compact price ranges from $530 and $540.

In terms of network support, the Xperia Z5 Compact supports AT&T and T-Mobile networks. The handset does not support CDMA network so Verizon and Sprint networks are not included.

According to Android Authority, the Xperia Z5 Compact has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor which also powers the Xperia Z5 Premium and the flagship Xperia Z5. As its name suggests, the Xperia Z5 Compact sports a smaller 4.6-inch screen size, a feature that Sony claims will add portability to the phone. Its display has a 720 x 1280 resolution.

The Xperia Z5 Compact has a 23-megapixel rear facing camera with phase detection auto focus technology. It also has a 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. Additional hardware specs include an Adreno 430 GPU, 2GB of memory and microSD card support. The smartphone also boasts a 2700mAh battery pack and will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.
