Sony has confirmed that it is rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Sony Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua devices.
Many Sony Xperia devices are already running on the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 version of operating system. According to Xperia Blog, the upgrade is going to be rolled out the over the air for the devices. In this, the handsets will get the update at different times.
The update will be released in stages in different regions. Both of these devices will get a direct jump from Android KitKat 4.4.4 to Android Lollipop 5.1.1. The update will make the devices to move to the build number 18.6.A.175.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will fix the issue of the Stage fright vulnerability. Other changes will include the integration of the LinkedIn app with the Contacts and the Calendar app, the improvements in the accuracy in superior auto mode. The devices will be equipped with an improved enterprise support for Xperia, along with instant calendar events, according to BGR.
The new Settings menu icons will be available post upgrade. The options for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi will now be available in the notifications menu. Hence, the users can now use these options without the need to go to the phone settings. The full support for Smart Watch 3 will also be included after this update.
When prompted, the users can click on the "Install now" option and then follow the instructions which appear on the screen. To manually check for updates, the users can go to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for updates. (This should be in one sentence) The users must charge their devices to 50 percent before installing the update.
