While there are possibilities of canceling Netflix's "Longmire," executive producer John Coveny teased that the show may run up to season 10 if at all it will be renewed.
So far, Netflix is still mum concerning the renewal of "Longmire" season 5, according to Deadline. Longmire was initially aired on A&E, which cancelled the show after the third season. However, the show was later picked up by Netflix after fans took to social media to save it.
Fans are worried that the show may be cancelled once again since Netflix is taking too long to make an official statement on the fate of "Longmire." Reportedly, the streaming company is waiting to see the rating of the show, and currently, it seems early for Netflix to determine whether season 4 was a hit.
Meanwhile, Covey told Yahoo! TV concerning his plans for "Longmire."
The showrunner said, "We threw a lot of knives in the air in season 3, and we've caught a lot of them in season 4. When we pitched the series to Netflix, they talked about how long we want to keep the show going. Realistically, we have seasons 8, 9, and 10 in our heads; it's a rich world, and we're just beginning to scratch the surface of it."
For several weeks now, fans have been taking to social media in an attempt to save the show from being cancelled. Through a fanbase group called Longmire Posse, avid fans have been posting their views about the show on their Facebook page.
Although season 4 of the western-themed crime drama began streaming on Sept. 10, viewers would like to see a renewal. However, it appears like they will have to wait a little bit longer for official confirmation from Netflix.
