It is now more than one month since the streaming of "Longmire" season 4 on Netflix, and it is unclear whether the network will offer another season. However, season 5 should happen considering the previous season ended with an abrupt cliffhanger.

While Netflix has so far remained quiet about another season, there are speculations that the next season will continue with Walt Longmire dedicated to track and find the killer of his wife. Furthermore, chances of having another season are high since actor Robert Taylor, playing the character of Sheriff Walt Longmire, explained that the likelihood of another season will entirely depend on the success of the previous season.

Meanwhile, fans have remained relentless in the past campaigning to make sure that there is another season. The show that was previously aired on the A&E network unexpectedly faced cancellation after the third season.

Fans decided to take to social media to save the show from cancellation. As a result, Warner Horizon Television solicited for a new network that would show the progression of the plot - according to Craig Johnson's novel "Walt Longmire Mysteries" - and Netflix decided to take up the task, Deadline reported.

The fourth season became available for viewing on Sept. 10 and the agreement was that it was the series' best timing.

Many fans have been wondering why Netflix is taking a long time to reach a decision on the fate of "Longmire." According to Cater Matt, the network is waiting to see the numbers surrounding the show and currently, it is still too early to tell whether season 4 was indeed a success.

Netflix has a particular formula of determining the success of a movie beyond just the ratings. The network apparently looks at buzz surrounding a movie and the number of subscriptions generated. Given that it is just a few weeks since the show began streaming, it is unlikely that everybody has watched the entire season.

At the moment, fans will have to be patient to here from Netflix as to whether there will be a renewal or not.
