DeMarcus Cousins was unable to return after halftime in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to soreness in his achilles. The Sacremento Kings originally stated that they would not need to have an MRI on the superstar center as the injury was not of any issue.
However, according to ComCast Sport's Twitter account, this may not be the case any more.
The account tweeted on November 1 at 3:15 PM that "UPDATE: #SacKings' DeMarcus Cousins to undergo MRI on Achilles (via @James_Ham) bit.ly/1NJBJ9D #NBA"
Generally, with something like soreness in a muscle or tendon, an MRI would not be needed. These types of injuries should go away over time and only require the play to rest his muscles. However, with the news that he may undergo an MRI, should fans be concerned? Is this achilles a cause of concern for the Kings?
The most likely scenario is that the Kings are simply taking extra precautions on their star player. After all, when a muscle like the achilles is teared, it is blatantly obvious. The fact that they did not call it a tear immediately after he sustained his injury is indicative that the injury is not as serious as most people fear.
Still, it is unsurprising that the Kings are coddling their superstar center. After all, with the abundant rumors of his supposed dissatifaction with the organization and the new head coach George Karl, the Kings must do all in their power to keep their man safe and satisfied.
The Kings at the present moment stand at 1-2 in the regular season.
