Skype launched a bunch of updates for the Android and iOS versions of the app, which brings new features and specific enhancements.

On both Android and iOS versions of the app, users can now add filters to their video messages, clips that are recorded and sent to contacts for them to open at any time. They can do this by choosing the filter wand at the bottom left of the video message windows before shooting.

The video filters appear to be a directly inspired by Snapchat, according to SlashGear. Among the options are balloons, several ways of facial distortion, along with ghosts and a negative filter for creepy Halloween messages.

With Skype for iPhone, users can now press down on the app's homescreen icon to display a range of Quick Actions, supporting 3D Touch feature. A firm press on the Skype icon from the iPhone 6s' home screen will bring up quick access to options for search or making a call. Once inside the app, "Peek and Pop" feature brings the users to a recent conversation and peek at the latest message.

A firmer press will Pop video chats into the foreground. The Peek feature can also be used on links, photos, and shared locations in conversations. Users can now also hide and delete chats, and easily share your contact from the contact lists.

Overall, this usability changes and represents Skype's effort in catching up in functionalities with newer such as Snapchat and Messenger from Facebook. There is also a possibility that these improvements may come to Skype on Windows 10 soon, WinBeta reported.

All the latest updates for Skype app are now available on the App Store and Google Play.
