Chinese bank subsidiary UnionPay International announced that it will be giving UnionPay cardholders discounts when they use their cards in famous tourism destinations around the world.

Starting today up until the end of February next year, the bank's cardholders can avail up to a 15-percent discount whenever they use the cards to pay for dining, tourist attractions, sightseeing, hotels, shopping, entertainment and cultural visits in 20 international tourist cities which include Paris, Rome and Sydney.

The bank's cardholders can also avail a 10-percent discount at 10 resort islands including Maldives, Bali and Phuket.

UnionPay International is part of China UnionPay, the country's only bank card association. UnionPay's cards are widely accepted in over 140 countries and regions around the globe.

The firm also urges Chinese tourists to spend more and travel to Australian state Sydney via the recent collaborative partnership campaign with Destination NSW, New South Wales's government agency focused on tourism.

Chinese cardholders who purchase tickets to New South Wales and Sydney can avail rebates. Other benefits and incentives will be given to the tourists who will pay and shop using the UnionPay cards during their trip.

According to figures from the China National Tourism Administration, Australia was chosen as the destination by 822,700 traveling Chinese tourists in the previous year, which translates to a year-over-year increase of 12.8 percent.

Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase said that the campaign with UnionPay targets a bigger number of inbound Chinese tourists including their expenditures, which will strengthen New South Wales's spot as the top one tourism destination in the continent of Austrailia.

With the increasing number of traveling tourists around the globe, UnionPay International added more entertainment and cultural vendors in the new discount program to encourage cardholders to spend more. The firm also released a tourist map that shows the location of its partner vendors.
