Foreigners are flying to South Korea to learn K-Pop dance moves. The Korean Wave is truly taking the world by storm as K-Pop groups such as EXO are winning the hearts of fans on a global scale.
According to CNN, people from different countries are going to South Korea to experience the Korean culture but more importantly learn about K-Pop.
A lady from Latvia named Katya Krichko said that she's been a K-Pop fan for six years and her dream has come true as she has finally arrived in South Korea.
Krichko is learning K-Pop dance under a certified K-Pop dance instructor at the SM Studio.
Hailing from the United States is Marcus Paige who flew all the way from Virginia just to be immersed in Korean culture and learn K-Pop moves.
CNN reported that 30 percent of foreigners that visit the country do so to learn the dance.
According to Kim Jae-yong, Director of Tourism Business Division, "Korean Wave" tourists tends to stay longer and come back more often.
K-Pop is reportedly the latest addition to the "Korean Wave" that is permeating almost every country in the world today. Korean drama and food like Kimchi are also part of this Korean culture domination.
KPopstarz reported that tourists can join the K-Pop dance classes being held at the main office of SM Entertainment every Mondays and Tuesdays.
The city government of Seoul tied up with SM Entertainment to offer these free classes to foreigners in an attempt to further grow the country's tourism industry.
The pilot program only has 450 slots but the application the city government received was 850.
Seoul Mayor Park Won Soon said that there will be more class available such as Korean language tied with Korean soap operas and K-Pop vocal classes.
