An event showcasing the Chinese culture was held at the Chinese embassy in Lesotho, according to Women of China.
Xie Xiuling, wife of Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho Hu Dingxian, organized the event with the goal of giving the Basotho, the people of the African nation, a better understanding of Chinese culture and heritiage.
Among the more than 70 attendees of the event were the spouses of top Lesotho government officials, who were treated to a Chinese square dancing performance, an exhibition of watercolor paintings and a demonstration of Chinese dumpling making.
Guests said that the activities acquainted them with unfamiliar parts of the Chinese culture.
China and Lesotho are celebrating this year the 20th anniversary of the founding of their diplomatic ties, which have given way to the development of cooperation in all areas concerned, according to the report.
Chinese and Lesotho government officials have paid increasingly frequent state visits in recent years, which have led to better economic ties between the two nations.
According to data released by the Chinese customs in 2013, China-Lesotho trade totaled $100 million in that year, which is 3.5-percent greater than that of 2012 and 36 times bigger than in 1994, when the two countries' ties were just established.
