Gamers submitted more than one million Super Mario Maker courses in less than one week.

"Super Mario Maker" was already out for nearly two months and since its release the game has received massive critical and commercial success. The game's Producer, Director and Senior Director recently sat down with Nintendo Dream and discussed how they came up with the concept for the game's costume design.

"Super Mario Maker" producer Takashi Tezuka told Nintendo Life, "We has a vague idea that we wanted to use amiibo, like we got an interesting concept then we would certainly implement it."

One particular feature of the game is the ability to scan any amiibo and have the character's respective sprite replaces the default sprite on some stages. While this feature does not offer much impact on gameplay mechanics, its addition bring in a fresh and novel way of presenting a certain stage.

As for the game's cursor, it was revealed that the cat paw actually belongs Tezuka's cats and the dog paw was from Senior Director Yoshiko Yamashita's pet dog Shiba.

Many were surprised and astonished about the inclusion of the cat and dog paws as cursor for the game. In an English translation of the interview with Nintendo Dream, Yamashita was quoted stating, "We thought that if we are going to do it anyway, it would be interesting to also add strange things. Although we tested various things, not many of them were fitting."

The translated English transcript of the full interview was posted on the website of Nintendo Everything.

Following its release, more than 1.88 million copies of "Super Mario Maker" had been sold worldwide by the end of September.
