Derek Hough is seen here along with his star-dance partner of "Dancing With The Stars" season 21, Bindi Irwin.

"Dancing With The Stars" contestant and daughter of late Steve Irwin, Bindi Irwin is facing a weird legal trouble as she has been asked by a judge to prove that his famous father is dead.

Recent reports stated that the teenager's contract with the dance reality show has been put on hold by a Los Angeles' Superior Court judge, TMZ reported. According to the state law, since Bindi is still 17, a contract has to be signed both by her mother and father who usually waive off legal rights to the minor's income.

While Bindi's mother Terri Irwin has already signed on the dotted lines stating she has given up all rights to any money her daughter will make on the show, the judge has asked a similar declaration to be submitted by the teenager's father as well.

It is still not clear whether the judge is questioning Bindi's parentage or is just asking her legal team to submit a death certificate. Whatever the case may be, the production company behind "DWTS"  has already stepped in to move the contract through the court, People reported.

Bindi's father, who was a world renowned Australian wildlife expert and the star of the TV series "The Crocodile Hunter," was famously killed by a stingray barb in 2006 while filming a show and his funeral was broadcasted on news services around the world.

The legal trouble has put a question on Bindi's income that she will draw from the dance reality show. Although, she is receiving great response every episode, even if she did not win the show, the teenager is likely to take home a fat paycheque.

Bindi started the season with a base compensation of $125000 and was paid  $10,000 per week for weeks three and four. Subsequently, she is entitled to get $ 15000 for week five, $ 20, 000 for week six and seven and $30,000 for week eight.
