After gaining success from its release in Hong Kong, surveillance thriller "Overheard" will now have its English remake, as revealed by Chinese film production company Bona Film Group.

Bona will be in partnership with Jeff Robinov's Studio 8 in creating the movie's English version, and Studio 8 included the film on its list of release for its debut, said Bona chief operating officer Jeffrey Chan.

Robinov once worked for Warner Bros. Inc. as production chief when the company remade the international blockbuster "Infernal Affairs" to "The Departed," while Chan filmed the original "Overheard" production with Media Asia.

"Overheard," a drama film that shows the white-collar crime situation in Hong Kong where a task force investigated and solved the manipulation in the stock market, was written and directed by two of the writers who did "Internal Affairs" / "The Departed."

With the success it gained from its initial release in 2009, "Overheard" was followed by two more sequels in 2011 and earlier this year.

Actors Daniel Wu, Louis Koo and Sean Lau who were cast in all three films, but played different roles in each. They noted that each film has an independent story to tell.

"Overheard's" English remake is expected to be released in 2017.
