Longmire season 5 renewed

After months of waiting, it has finally been confirmed that "Longmire" has been renewed for season 5. Fans of the show, called "The Longmire Posse," have tirelessly campaigned for the show's renewal on social media. Some even said that they would boycott Netflix if the series would not be picked up.

The announcement of the renewal was posted on the series' official Facebook page with the caption, "We've never been one to back down from a fight. Longmire will return to Netflix for Season 5."

With the series being one of the highest shows on A&E, many fans cannot help but wonder why the network decided to pull the plug in the first place.

In an official statement, SVP Dan Silberman explained that even with its high ratings, they had difficulty selling the show to the advertisers. He pointed out that the series did not exactly meet their client's target demographic which is 18-49 and 25-54.

In 2014, Craig Johnson, on his Facebook page, refused to believe A&E's claim and said that he was previously told that the show "pretty much sold itself," adding that they had to turn down some of the advertisers.

Johnson then speculated that perhaps the real reason why A&E decided to cancel the show was because they wanted to concentrate on series that they own and produce themselves. He added that the cancellation definitely hurt the network as many fans allegedly called their cable and satellite providers requesting to remove A&E from their subscription packages. Johnson claimed that A&E had to hire extra operators just to handle the amount of complaints they received from fans.
