"I am Cait" may have been renewed for a second season but Caitlyn Jenner reportedly had to take a massive pay cut due the show's poor ratings. The reality star reportedly had to beg the E! producers just to get the renewal.
According to OK! magazine, the docu-series about Jenner's life was only renewed after Jenner begged the producers to give her show a second chance. Although the network was ready to pull the plug, they caved in on the condition that Jenner will receive a much lower salary.
After much negotiation, Jenner eventually agreed after she was told that she could keep her expense allowance. It was said that Jenner was hesitant to agree to the network terms but eventually had to give in. The reality star was reportedly afraid that she would no longer be relevant if her show got cancelled.
According to Wet Paint, Jenner understood that the ratings of the show were far lower than what they expected. In the end, she even offered to the show without pay.
The outlet reported that Jenner received a total of $5 million on the first season of "I am Cait." It, however, has yet to be confirmed how much she will be getting in the coming season.
Insiders claim that the network only agreed to renew the show because they wanted to keep Jenner happy, so that she could consider appearing on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." If, however, the ratings would not improve, the network will not think twice about cancelling the show and instead focus on their other reality series.
