Apple Shutters Beats Music Service On Nov. 30

Apple will officially close its Beats Music service on Nov. 30. Dale Bagwell, customer experience manager of Beats Music announced the closure on its support webpage on Thursday.

At the end of the month, Beats Music will cancel all subscriptions. He urged current users to move their profile, including preferences and picks, to Apple Music, reports Appleinsider.

Apple bought Beats Music in 2014 for $3 billion. The buy-in covered the company's software and hardware units and hiring of executives such as Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and Trent Reznor. The purchase led to curation and playlist generation technology of Beats Music service becoming a part of Apple Music, but the Beats by Dre audio brand remained under Apple.

In June 2015, both Beats 1 Radio and Apple Music were launched as an iOS exclusive and then it was ported over to Apple TV through tvOS. This week, Apple rolled out the beta version of its Apple Music Android app.

While launching the beta version would make the service within the reach of 1.2 billion users or half of the market, Forbes is asking if Android users would be interested in giving Apple Music a try. Apple Music has 6.5 million paying customers four months after its launch, second in numbers to Spotify which has 20 million subscribers.

Bagwell explains, "All the pros that curated music are still crafting more amazing experiences. Plus, on Apple Music, you'll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting materials from your favorite artists, and more."

He included in the website a link to Apple Music's webpage where clients could sign up for the streaming service for a three-month trial period.
