Adam McKay may return to pen the screenplay of Peyton Reed's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Ant-Man and the Wasp."
McKay wrote the film script for Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp," which is a sequel to his "Ant-Man," which has become one of the highest grossing films of all time. In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McKay admitted that he had been talking to lead actor Paul Rudd about working again with Marvel Studios.
McKay also said that what happens next was yet to be seen and that would certainly had been fun. For McKay, he had loved working with the studio.
Should Marvel Studios contact McKay to pen the screenplay for "Ant-Man and the Wasp," the issue would be his availability, as per Cinema Blend. McKay mentioned in his interview that he did have other projects in the future that might keep him busy. One of his upcoming projects is his drama film "The Big Short," which is slated on Dec. 23.
After its release on July 17, "Ant-Man" has grossed an estimated total of $179.5 million in a domestic scale, making it the tenth highest grossing film of all time. At is point, the film's success leaves fans unshocked if they see McKay and Reed work on the upcoming film sequel together.
Aside from "Ant-Man and the Wasp," McKay had also been reported to seat on the director's chair and helm Marvel's upcoming slate "Inhumans," as per Screen Rant. However, this is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, Rudd is set to reprise his role as Ant-Man while Evangeline Lily will don the suit of the iconic character The Wasp.
Ant-Man is also set to be part of Captain America's team, along with Hawkeye, Falcon, and Agent 13. They will be against Iron Man's team, which reportedly includes Black Widow, War Machine, The Vision, and Black Panther. Spider-Man is also set to appear in the film; however, no information yet as to which side he is in. Meanwhile, the Wasp's inclusion in the film is yet to be revealed.
Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 6, 2018 while the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016. "Inhumans" premieres on July 12, 2019.
